USI ROI Calculators Family of Products

I was brought onto the DXD team at the onset of a transformative five-year project aimed at reimagining the entire sales experience. This initiative shifts our approach from outdated PowerPoint demonstrations to a state-of-the-art sales platform comprised of a series of SaaS applications, equipped with advanced estimators that leverage real-time data for enhanced decision-making. Given the ambitious timeline and the formation of a new team of UX designers, I was tasked with spearheading the development of our Material Design-based design system library.

My responsibilities include:

  • Leading the U-Tech series of Premium Estimator applications, ensuring they align seamlessly with modern design principles and offer optimal usability.

  • Designing a new HUB interface for a separate USI business team while implementing our established U-Tech design standards, promoting consistency and coherence across platforms.

  • Creating and maintaining our U-Tech Design System, which incorporates design system and atomic design principles, fostering a modular and scalable approach that enhances collaboration among teams and improves overall user experience.

Through these efforts, we aim to create a cohesive and efficient sales environment that not only meets current needs but also adapts to future challenges.

USE CASE – DEEP DIVE

While developing the USI Design System, I leveraged it to effectively to launch 4 RIO Calculators into use with their sales force and eventually to external clients. It was therefore very important to land on a template quickly and roll the applications out consecutively with the same standards being implemented from the start.

Of course as the applications are built with the components in place, slight tweaks and improvements are expected and easy all the way downstream, from wireframe build with the Figma components, to the Developer team who is using the coinciding repository component.

Figma Prototype - Demo Template

Because I knew up front we were design a family of applications, even the prototype demo could be streamlines. My primary Figma Template file is simply my working file along side the (USI) Design System Library. Prior to rolling out the design system to the entire team I was able to toggle the first application and the Library Figma.

Clear UI with a sticky header. Right side of UI is the formula, and the right panel is the actual cumulative Premium Estimate.

The Team continues to use my Figma Extension and my Internally developed templates to leverage clear documentation without loosing the tribal knowledge. My plug in allows for speed while maintaining organization. Precise design system adjustment and template adjustments can be made efficiently when the team understands this 10,000,000 foot view of the architecture of the templates, applications templates and design system standards.
