Thomson Reuters - Legal Tracker

I spearhead the transformation of LEGAL TRACKER, a premier legal accounting software -
boasting over 14 years of industry-leading expertise. My responsibilities included conducting a comprehensive heuristic evaluation of the application within a tight timeline, organizing focus groups with clients to pinpoint the software's weaknesses, and crafting an innovative, clickable sales prototype that embodies cutting-edge design principles aligning to Google’s Material Design. Additionally, I provided strategic guidance to the development team on bridging the gap between legacy features and modern functionalities, ensuring a seamless transition that enhances user experience and drives client satisfaction and user trust.

Heuristic Evaluation

With this team all of the Product Managers and team of well over 60 developers with over 300 unique pages within this application, had been the actual designers of this application. No UX design had been engaged as of date. I came in and interviewed 8 key customers, created the North Star vision and helped to prioritize a low bar effort to increase user satisfaction and regain their industry lead.

I started out by evaluating the application based on Jakob Neilsen's Ten Principles of Design, and several focus groups with key clients. Happy ones, ones on the fence, and a few who had already chosen to go with another competitor.

After understanding the workflow pain-points, I was able to identify where and how to make the workflows more efficient just by an overall focus on 2 areas of Norman-Neilsen’s 10 Principles of UX design. A navigation model and notification system were adopted. The 3 primary pages were fully developed with Material Design standards to iterate with an immediate launch…and a long term strategy to hit the North Star.

Using the above demo as a sales tool, the Sales team was able to demonstrate the forward thinking direction that our application is headed. For the fate of our UX team, we had to give the sales team the tools to increase sales by 10% that quarter. We succeeded.

That paved the way for the following:

  • Usability testing,

  • Implementation of the new framework

  • deep dives into UX workflow improvements

I worked with 4 different development teams on separate ends of the world for this $4 million project.

Material Design

We can be confident that adopting this set of principles will result in success. With Material Design as the UX standard we set out to bring the application up to todays standards.

Our customers showed a more than 30% increase in customer satisfaction. Watch this wonderful Testimonial!
