Handset Device Interaction Patterns
Designing four handset themes for 5-way flip phones was an innovative endeavor. Each theme was carefully crafted to offer unique aesthetics while enhancing functionality. I started by researching prevalent design trends and user preferences, focusing on color palettes, typography, and icons that resonate with users. The first theme, "Carousel," features a timeless color scheme of deep blues, purples and yellows, ideal for a sophisticated look. The second theme, "Drawer," draws inspiration from earthy tones and organic shapes, creating a calm and soothing interface. For the third theme, "Classic," I incorporated modern, bold graphics and neon accents to appeal to tech-savvy users. Lastly, "Sprocket" showcases a 5 sided sprocket that rotates elegantly to expand each menu. Each theme was prototyped and tested for usability, ensuring that they not only looked good but also provided a seamless user experience on flip phones. I worked directly with the OEM developers of our Cell Phone manufacturers. The result was a delightful fusion of style and functionality across Sprints portfolio of flip phones.
